My Skye Was Three Feet High
by Cheryl DeWitt Hicks
Because of the way their middle-aged friends talk about it, Matt and Glenda are looking forward to suffering from the “empty nest syndrome.” However, just days before their “suffering” could begin, another child makes a big entrance in their life. They step forward to help raise this beautiful little girl. Before long they are solely bearing the responsibility of any future the child might have.
Resigning themselves to that fact is easy. However after learning what traumas she has endured, the hard part is watching her try to overcome her past and learn to deal with her diseases—bipolar disorder, ODD and the PTSD that threatens to rob her of the future she deserves.
